Wine Information
The Sobremoro is a single-varietal Tempranillo. The grapes come from Viñaspre in the Rioja Alavesa. The Sobremoro vineyard lies at an altitude of 580 meters. It has a stony, iron-rich clay soil with limestone. The 45-year-old vines are trained as bush vines in the goblet system. After hand-harvesting and sorting, the grapes were destemmed and spontaneously fermented at a maximum temperature of 25°C for 20 days. The wine was then aged for 18 months in second-use French oak barrels.

Light, transparent purple
Nose
In this Tempranillo, the restrained and subtle use of oak is noticeable, imparting a warm, slightly cinnamon-like, and muscat-like note to the ripe red fruit from the very first sip. Wild strawberry compote, some red currants, raspberries, and black cherries characterize the fruit, accompanied by sweet tobacco, a touch of leather, and dried herbs. On the palate, the oak is more pronounced than in the other single-vineyard wines. Yet here, too, it is elegant, supportive, deep, and refined. The tannins in this wine coat the palate with a slightly astringent, yet already very fine-grained quality. The acidity testifies to the correct harvest time in this relatively high-altitude vineyard. This is a dark-fruited wine of ripe berries with a sensual character and finesse, as well as a cool edge that makes the Rioja seem very complete and inviting.
